Acme Burlesque is a burlesque themed cabaret show featuring neo-burlesque performances and live music. It is co-produced by Seska Lee and Shayne Gryn.
Seska Lee began her burlesque adventures in 2003 as the co-founder of The Coral Lees. Inspired by the bump and grind classics and recycled by geeks, this troupe dedicated itself to bringing some sexual pastiche to the Montreal stage. In 2007 she created a series of burlesque plays (Serial Burlesque) with Miss Sugarpuss and soon after they, along with L Diablo, performed and produced shows as the trio Team Burlesque. Seska Lee has appeared at the Montreal Burlesque Festival, the Grand Burlesque Show, and the Montreal Fringe Festival. Now with Acme Burlesque Miss Lee continues to mix humour with sensuality. She finds her inspiration from the art of the languid striptease, vaudville shtick, 1960s go-go dancing and 1980s bouncy pop.
Shayne Gryn is the musical director of Processed Theatre (Reefer Madness: The Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Edges: A Song Cycle) and the artistic director of Headless Goat Productions (Old Time Radio Theatre, TaelStrum, After The Storm). He has worked in musical theatre for nearly a decade, getting his start in Dariusz Production’s The Rocky Horror Show in 2002. Having had a longstanding relationship with the burlesque community in Montreal, Shayne first teamed up with Miss Sugarpuss and Sucre À La Crème for his 2010 album launch for The Untold Story Of The Pickle Of Love. In the same year, he was invited to participate in Red Bull’s Sounderground 1st International Metro Musical Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
